Gear Up For a BUSY Fall 2020 with Covid-19 Delayed Gravel Races All Over North America

4/22/2020

Gravel Races Delayed by Corona Virus
Well gravel racers . . . here we are approaching the end of April, 2020, and there isn't a gravel race in sight. And with all of the Spring, and some Summer, events being pushed to Fall, it's gonna be a busy BUSY August, September, & October. As of today, just look at this line up of races:
  • Aug 15: D2R2
  • Aug 16: SBT GRVL
  • Aug 22: Gravel Worlds
  • Aug 29: Pony Express Gravel
  • Aug 30: BWR Asheville
  • Sept 3: Rebecca's Private Idaho
  • Sept 5: Wild Horse Gravel
  • Sept 12: Dirty Kanza
  • Sept 12: Grinduro California
  • Sept 12: Tour of the Battenkill
  • Sept 19: Stetina's Paydirt
  • Sept 19: Mammoth Tuff
  • Sept 20: Robidoux Quick & Dirty
  • Sept 26: Chino Grinder
I mean, look at poor September 12 which presents the most obvious conundrum . . . Dirty Kanza and Grinduro California on the same day! And what about refunds for all of the races with a "TBD" designation (of which there are many)? Well, we don't know. Some are offering refunds, some are saying "just wait, please!" And some have been silent. So time will tell!

All this being said, we should note that the first material gravel event that has NOT been cancelled to date is  the good ol Crusher in the Tushar still scheduled for July 11 in Beaver, Utah. But, with everything happening, I can't imagine that that date sticks.

And on the bright side, all of this uncertainty definitely makes training a more dynamic "moving target" exercise, which, let's be honest, may not be a bad thing.

Here's to a gnarly 2020!
